Lloyd’s provides a unique, global insurance marketplace. My roles have been supporting the corporation and the market with data and data processing systems.

Senior Project Manager
February 2021 - Present

Following an invitation to join the Lloyd’s Operations and Change team, I was promoted into the role of Senior Project manager and undertook several roles to address urgent business challenges, including:

  • Data Management Modernisation (DMM)

    • Delivering a complex data processing system based around the Azure Data Lake technologies to replace a complex portfolio of existing applications, aligning to and extending the Lloyd’s data corporation data strategy.

    • Consolidation and combination of multiple data feeds to ensure a single truth reported to the Canadian and US regulators from different teams within Lloyd’s.

    • Engagement and management of offshore third-party delivery teams to build the required solutions using Scrum and CI/CD using Microsoft DevOps.

  • North Atlantic Insurance  Commission (NAIC) Submissions

    • Successfully replacing and enhancing tooling to gather, augment and submit key market data to the US regulator using a small UK based remote team.

  • Market Data Collections (MDC) Product Owner

    • Enabled and facilitated a new agile delivery approach for the MDC Platform.

    • Management of a mixed supplier agile team and contractual relationship.

  • Governance, Risk, Compliance (GRC) Project Manager

    • To oversee the extraction of an incumbent delivery partner from the project and move of this project to BAU operations for ongoing development.

    • To align outstanding and evolving business needs with supplier delivery capabilities and agreed service levels. Planning and prioritising the backlog of work into a series of technical and business change releases.

    • Mentoring a senior business user in the role of Product Owner for the service and transitioning responsibilities to him over time.

Planning and Engagement Team Leader
July 2020 - January 2021

  • Following promotion, I led the Data Planning and Engagement team. In addition to my ongoing Data Lab Planning Manager responsibilities:

  • Responsible and accountable for all work delivered by the team, including Business Partnering and planning functions for the Lloyd’s Data team.

  • Management of 4 direct reports during a period of significant business uncertainty arising from organisation changes, remote working and people impacts arising from the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • Contribute to and managing the development of the revised Data Strategy for Lloyd’s corporation.

Data Lab Planning Manager
June 2018 - June 2020

The Lloyd’s Data Lab provided data management and reporting services to enable Lloyd’s to provide, promote and protect the global Lloyd’s insurance market. My main responsibilities were:

  • Project Management and planning to enable Data Lab initiatives, including:

  • LDR Tactical Project: Critical and rapid enhancements to the production LDR platform to significantly increase performance and enable ongoing use of the platform. Required close management of Data Lab, IT and supplier technical resources to identify, fix, test and release a series of iterative improvements to the platform to meet operational challenges.

  • Market Insights Hub: Initial development of the Market Insights Hub for the Lloyd’s market participants to directly see online reports and dashboards to improve their business through better data decisions.

  • Product Delivery Process: Optimising the Data Lab workflow for the creation of business reporting products.

  • Tessian: Introduction of email tooling to improve data security

  • IT Change Champion: supporting the introduction of new IT infrastructure and processes across the Data Lab, including computer hardware, new systems and adoption of adoption of more agile ways of working.

  • MDM: Taking control of a failing MDM project to bring to a controlled and logical conclusion.

  • Planning and managing the spend of the overall department budget (circa £8M) without overspend and within 3% of target.

  • Management of the overall resource pool within Data Lab (in excess of 50 people) to ensure we had appropriate skilled resources available to support the Data Lab and change project initiatives. This included recruitment, demand management and optimising costs whilst meeting the ever-changing data resource needs of Lloyd’s operational and change programmes.

  • Advising the Chief Data Officer and Data Lab management team on aspects of budget, resource and project delivery planning.

  • Oversee the delivery of a CRM Data Steward service to deliver high-quality CRM data to Lloyd’s management to support the business operations.
