TUNGSTEN NETWORK: SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER
May 2017 - May 2018
Tungsten Network provide financial services to many of the largest global companies including e-invoicing, workflow and early settlement. Working within the Project and Programme Transition team, my role was to manage a portfolio of major cloud-based infrastructure projects across the entire project lifecycle to facilitate significant business change. This required both Scrum and Prince 2 controls to manage technical delivery, business transformation and third-party supplier deliveries. Key activities included:
Planning and managing the transition of the entire suite of core business critical applications from two physical data centres into a hybrid AWS / on-premise solution to realise cost saving, reliability and agility business benefits. This involved:
5 concurrent and interdependent workstreams to design, build and test >80 applications in multiple development, test and production environments.
Moving a 27TB database between datacentres, requiring the physical shipment of data between several sites.
The migration of >270K customers between the old and new secure managed file transfer systems.
Introducing a new Salesforce Service Cloud based ticketing solution to manage support workflows within Tungsten and for external customers in a programme of releases.
The re-architecture of AWS and development infrastructure to create an automated application deployment pipeline for a high-profile customer facing solutions (CloudFormation, Octopus Deploy).
Assisting in establishing a programme management governance model across a number of dependent projects running within the business.
Helping to facilitate the move towards a DevOps delivery culture within the business.
Undertaking key elements of business requirements capturing, elaboration, documentation and approval to ensure project scope is appropriately defined and understood by all Stakeholders.
Building appropriate backlogs of Epics, User Stories and Tasks in Jira to drive work across multiple delivery teams.
Collaborating with internal Tungsten Network employees across the globe using various collaborative tools (Teams, Planner, SharePoint, Skype for Business).
Managing and collaborating with a number of external suppliers using their tools of choice (Smartsheets, G Suite, Slack, WebEx).
